YOGA INSTRUCTORS

Claire Schafer, Yoga Instructor

Claire has been a student of yoga for more than 22 years and completed her formal yoga teacher training in February 2007, under the tutelage of Kale Leaf at the Fremantle Yoga Centre. She uses yoga as a tool to become more present, grounded and aware in her everyday life. Yoga helps her juggle all her roles, including being a mama to two little people. Claire practices in the Hatha and Iyengar yoga traditions, with an emphasis on mindfulness. She also has training and a special interest in pre-natal yoga, and yin and restorative yoga. Her classes are infused with a sense of mindfulness, providing students with time to explore and self reflect. Students are encouraged to be present; to cultivate an awareness of the breath and the body; and to work within their limits, without pushing or pain.

Claire has been teaching at Yoga Moves for 15 years. In her classes there is an emphasis on body alignment, creative sequencing, holding poses for a period of time and the use of props (e.g. blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters). This allows people of varying ages, levels of health and fitness and those that are injured or pregnant to enjoy the benefits of yoga. All classes finish with a 15 minute guided relaxation/meditation experience.

All students are welcome to the classes. Wednesday morning classes (Beyond Beginners) are not suitable for absolute beginners.
